| As Asian American figure skaters command the 2022 Winter Olympics — with Nathan Chen taking home the gold medal last week and Alysa Liu and Karen Chen competing Tuesday — it's worth looking back at the woman who paved the way: Kristi Yamaguchi. The Japanese American won the Olympic gold medal in 1992, and changed the face of figure skating forever. My Washington Post colleague Robert Samuels catches up with the 50-year-old Yamaguchi, who said her winning "just felt like any other California girl representing her country."
